wow, it has been almost 4 years since my bypass. I lost 212 pounds in the first year, was pregnant after 7 years of infertility 13 months after surgery, had a miscarriage, was pregnant again within 6 weeks and delivered a healthy baby boy, Noah Dec of 05. Now, we are VERY anxiously awaiting ANOTHER baby...Jan 29 this year she ( they SAY it is a girl, but we know how that goes...) will make her arrival! WHEW! We were NOT expecting to be pregnant again, especially so soon, but we are so EXCITED and THRILLED it is beyond words! My oldest, Nick, is going to be a senior next year...he already has IKNOWITALL-itis! yuck! I notice with this pregnancy, I can eat anything, and everything, and I do. Old habits sure come creeping up! However, I have only gained 24 pounds! Sugar does not bother me nearly as much as fat content...anyone else have this problem?! This baby is odd...it craves fruit...the first 6 months of the pregnancy it was apples and nectarines every day! now it is coffee every morning! I use instant, and it is more milk and french vanilla creamer than coffee...but the baby likes it...ok, the mommy likes it, but who needs to know...right?? :) I just wanted to stop in and tell people, especially those dealing with infertility...there IS HOPE! The surgery not only gave me MY life back, it has given me 2 new wonderfull lives to nurture and care for!! Oh, and Lynda S if you read this HI! I see you every so often in town, YOU LOOK AWESOME!!! I still look like I need surgery...lol...especially now ...but I am way too chicken to have the loose skin removal! anyway, girl, YOU LOOK GREAT!!!
Have a great day all!! Tracie
Thanks! It's been quite a year, hasn't it? Congrats to you on your upcoming survigersary and keep up the good work!

Life Should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ... WOO HOO - WHAT A RIDE!!!!!

Hi there everyone! I just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone out there. I know these boards have so many different people in different stages of the journey and this message is for all of you. For those of you who are researching and contemplating this surgery, for those of you who just had surgery and are thinking "what the hell did I just do?" for those of you who had the surgery before me and helped me through the times when I was asking the same question and all those in between. First of all the year has just flown by! I can't believe that a year ago today I was laying in the hospital starting my new life. I had no idea where I would be today but I have to say that I am very pleased with the results. I've had some bumps in the road and I can't say I'm the "perfect" post surgery person but it was the best thing I have EVER done for myself and more importantly for my family. My kids and my husband love the person that I have become. I have so much more energy, I can do things with them that I was too tired to do before. And most importantly, I will be there for them for MANY years to come!
I started this journey 1 year ago today at the weight of 354. When people ask how much I've lost I've gotten to the point that I'm almost embarrased to say how much. I've lost almost 140 pounds and still have weight to lose. Many of the people that ask probably don't even weigh 140 pounds so I can just imagine what they're thinking when I tell them. But I try not to let that bother me too much.
Excess skin is a big issue - it's not causing any pain, rashes or health problems but it's there and I hate it. Sooner or later I will have surgery to remove it but we'll cross that bridge when it comes.
Anyway, I won't keep blabbing on & on but I wanted to pop in and say hi to my old OH friends and also to the new ones who I don't know.
I've posted some new pictures on my profile that were taken just this morning - take a look if you get a chance.
Hope you all had a Happy New Year and are starting 2008 off to a great start!
HUGS!
Carrie
